Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, water-resistant mid-range smartphone unveiled

The new Sony M2 Aqua smartphone features the highest waterproof rating (IP65/68).

Sony has introduced yet another dust and water-resistant smartphone called the Xperia M2 Aqua. The new Sony smartphone has water resistance (IP65/68) and dust tight (IP65) certifications. The smartphone runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is powered by a   1.2 GHz Quad Core processor along with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 305 GPU.
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua has a 4.8-inch display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It sports an 8MP rear camera with auto focus and Exmor RS sensor. It has 1.1 MP front-facing camera. The M2 Aqua comes with 8GB internal memory and up to 32GB microSD support.
In terms of connectivity, the Xperia M2 Aqua  supports 3G, Bluetooth 4.0,Wi-Fi Miracast, aGPS and NFC. It is powered by a 2330 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver 11 hours 23 minutes of talktime.

Following consumer feedback, we’ve now taken this a step further by bringing our waterproof expertise to a mid-range smartphone for the first time with Xperia M2 Aqua. It is a smartphone that lets customers take the best of Sony technology and entertainment with them wherever they go – come rain or shine – and we are excited to bring it to market.”
Sony hasn't revealed the price of the smartphone but has confirmed it will have a “mid-range price-point”. The M2 Aqua will available in black or white colours, and will roll out from later this year to markets including Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
